Abstract
A case concerning the prohibition of transgenic soya and corn in Uruguay.
The public prosecutor required the court to forbid transgenic soya and corn because of the transgenic contaminations that might result with the environment surrounding transgenic fields.
The court considered that a prohibition would be disproportionate because the public prosecutor did not provide any proof supporting the existence of a transgenic contamination risk for the environment.
Consequently, the court dismissed the appeal.
