On 23-24 June 2026, a regional seminar “Justice, Biodiversity, and Global Change: Building on the Legacy of the Amphictyonic Congress” was held in Panama City. It brought together judges and justice operators from Latin America and the Caribbean to reflect on one of the greatest challenges of our time: the protection of biodiversity and the response to climate change from the judicial lens. The seminar aimed to strengthen judicial decision-making based on scientific evidence, promoting a better understanding of the links between the environment, biodiversity, climate change and human rights, with an emphasis on advisory opinions and emerging judicial standards regarding climate issues.
